Melissa Saphir

Melissa Saphir, PhD, Data Analyst 3, is a social scientist with over 20 years of experience analyzing nationally representative surveys and evaluation data for non-profit organizations. Melissa analyzes survey data and writes reports and briefs for a variety of projects for the School Health Research and Evaluation team, including the annual survey of California public school principals, survey of California school-based health centers, and the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS). She also works on the Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health team at IHPS, managing survey datasets and writing papers for projects with the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health division of the California Department of Public Health. Melissa uses Stata to analyze quantitative survey data.  She earned her Master’s degree in Media Studies and her PhD in Communication (use and effects of mass media) from Stanford University. Melissa is committed to conducting research that benefits underserved populations.
