Northern Humboldt Union High School District (NHUHSD) received five-year School-Based Mental Health Services and the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration grants from the U.S. Department of Education (2022-2027). Through these grant programs, NHUHSD is working to uplift innovative partnerships between the district and California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt to train mental health service providers (MHSPs) and improve the overall delivery of school-based mental health services for students. The UCSF School Health Evaluation and Research team is partnering with NHUHSD and Del Norte COE to evaluate the progress and impact of these grants.
NHUHSD and Del Norte County Office of Education (COE) both received five-year Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) grants from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (2021-26). Through MHAT, both NHUHSD and Del Norte COE are providing evidence-based mental health training to adults and students. The UCSF School Health Evaluation and Research team is evaluating their progress, with findings showing increased capacity among participants to respond appropriately and safely to students experiencing mental health challenges.
